Art Education (BA)

Overview

As a student, you will be trained by experienced educators. Our faculty understand the day-to-day challenges you will encounter because they have been there themselves. Your professors will thoroughly prepare you for the realities you will face as a teacher.

Our location near Chicago provides access to a rich socio-economic learning environment at the crossroads of urban and suburban communities.

Art Education teacher candidates learn about art education theory and experience a variety of media in their art methods classes. You’ll enroll in studio classes to further strengthen your knowledge and background with various art media.

Field experiences at local schools and opportunities to teach prior to the student teaching semester familiarize teacher candidates with the role of an art educator. Teacher candidates must complete a rigorous 16-week student teaching internship in real classrooms—this means you are managing and teaching a class of your own and building your resume before you even graduate.
