Overview

The construction industry is one of Canada’s largest employers, and the demand for construction managers continues to grow. Our three-year Construction Engineering Technology advanced diploma program will provide you with the technical, business, and interpersonal skills needed to manage construction projects of varying sizes and complexity, while emphasizing sustainable construction practices.

Full Description

In the three-year Construction Engineering Technology advanced diploma program, you’ll gain an in-depth knowledge of the construction industry, including:

  • methods and materials of construction
  • construction estimating
  • construction law, contracts, and bidding
  • project management and control
  • construction graphics and detailing

This program shares the first four semesters with the two-year Construction Engineering Technician diploma program. Semesters 5 & 6 prepare you for a wider range of career options in the construction sector. This three-year program equips you for positions with higher levels of responsibility and accountability in areas like construction planning, project management, site superintendent, estimating, budget and bid preparation, sustainable building science, and engineering studies.

*If you enrol in January, you must complete semester 2 during May to August of the same year to continue into semester 3 in the fall.

Requirements

Applicants are selected on the basis of their academic achievement, including the required courses, and any other selection criteria outlined below.

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent**
  • grade 12 English (C or U)
  • grade 11 Math (M or U) or grade 12 (C or U)

Laptop and Internet Specifications

The Angelo DelZotto School of Construction Management strongly recommends that students own or purchase a laptop and arrange for home Internet service with 25 to 40 Mbps and a ping time of 20–100 ms.

The laptop specifications should meet or exceed the following specifications:

The purchase of a Mac laptop is not recommended because many of the programs do not run on the Mac platform operating system.
