The one-year Construction Techniques certificate program covers popular construction trade areas and has three intakes per year. With a broad overview of the various trades in the construction sector, this program will give you the basic skills that will help you take the next steps in your career path.
Through practical projects combined with theory, you’ll gain confidence and experience in each trade. This will give you the information you need to make an informed decision about your career, while also giving you a solid understanding of the construction process.
Requirements
Applicants are selected on the basis of their academic achievement, including the required courses, and any other selection criteria outlined below.
Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent**
grade 12 English (C or U)
grade 11 Math (M or U) or grade 12 (C or U)
Please note that George Brown is committed to ensuring that applicants will succeed in their program of choice and meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to the program. Applicants may be required to have grades higher than the minimum requirements stated.
1. Provide proof that their secondary and/ or post-secondary studies were completed at a recognized institution where English is the primary media of instruction. The studies must be relevant to the admission requirements for the specific program (s) applied to (e.g. an advanced diploma or degree is required for certain postgraduate program)
or
2. Applicants with transcripts from an institution where the language of instruction is not English may meet English language proficiency requirements with one of the following proofs of language proficiency. The minimum test scores that are acceptable are listed below (as applicable). Please note: For admissions purposes, some programs require a higher score than the minimum stated below.
