Public Relations – Corporate Communications

• Postsecondary 3-year advanced diploma or
• Postsecondary 3- or 4-year degree or higher

Or

• Postsecondary 2-year diploma* and/or
• Demonstrated competence through educational experience and/or related work experience in the communications field.*

Applicant Selection

*Applicants who apply with a postsecondary 2-year diploma or work experience will be requested to submit a supplemental admission requirement (submission). The Office of the Registrar will update your application in the Sheridan Application Portal to let you know if a submission is required.

The submission must include:

• Written statement of intent
• Three writing samples (published or unpublished)
• Resume (detailing related work and/or volunteer experience and computer skills)

The statement of intent should argue the applicant’s suitability for a profession in corporate communications and outline business/work experiences, and personal/professional goals. Students are expected to meet high copy editing standards.

An applicant assessment fee will be applied.

Domestic applicants

• Postsecondary transcripts indicating courses completed to date must be submitted to ontariocolleges.ca at the time of application.
• Domestic applicants with education outside of Canada must have their transcripts assessed for equivalency through ICAS or WES.
• Private career college courses and/or credentials are not acceptable as admission requirements for Sheridan programs.

International applicants

• Official postsecondary transcripts, indicating courses completed to date, and credential must be submitted at the time of application. In case the transcripts/certificates are not in English, note that these documents must be accompanied by a notarized, official translation into English. Translated copies must also be accompanied by a copy of the original transcript.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY:

Sheridan recognizes the following tests and considers their minimum scores for admission decisions. (Only one official result is required.) Note: For admission purposes, some programs require a higher score than the minimum scores stated below.

• Test results must be completed within the past two years (24 months) of the first day of classes.

NOTE:

1. Pharmacy Technician program (PPHTO) English proficiency requirements are: TOEFL iBT overall score 91 (21L, 25W, 23S, 22R); IELTS Academic Module overall score 6.5 with no individual band below 6.0. No other tests above are accepted. We do not accept completion of ESL/EAP for admission to Pharmacy.
2. Honours Bachelor of Science – Nursing (PBNSG) English proficiency requirements are: Duolingo Overall score 115 (with no individual sub-score lower than 95); IELTS Overall Band 6.5 (with no individual band below 6.0); TOEFL iBT 88 (with no individual section below 21). Test results must be completed within the past two years (24 months) of the first day of classes. No other tests above are accepted.
3. Teaching English as a Second Language program (PTESL) English proficiency requirements are: TOEFL iBT – Listening: 24; Reading: 24; Writing: 27; Speaking: 27; IELTS Academic Module – Listening: 7; Reading: 7; Writing: 7; Speaking: 7. No other tests above are accepted.
4. Sheridan does not guarantee acceptance of any tests above for any third-party regulatory body.
